Weekly TidBIts (August 31, 2012)

If you're reading this within a day or two of it being published then I am probably riding roller coasters at Universal Studios Orlando. Try not to feel bad for me.

Querying the Report Server Execution Log by Melissa Coates - This article explains some of the data you can acquire from the SQL Server Reporting Services execution logs. We use this to collect data on which reports are being executed, who is calling them, and how long they take to run.

The SQL Server PowerShell Extensions (SQLPSX) site at CodePlex - This is a fantastic project that has generated tons of commandlets that you can use to help manage your MSBI environment. I used the SQLServer module for my Get-EnvironmentReferenceId function earlier this week. That's not even scratching the surface, however, so you owe it to yourself to take a look whether your an Admin or a Developer.
